Why have my function key and volume control on my Toshiba Tablet PC?

Could I have accidentally turned it off?

For the volume, the wheel doesn't work and it's become a pain to have to open the volume control all the time. It was like one day I tried to turn down the volume and the computer didn't recognize the wheel turning.

For the function key, the light on the keyboard turns on when I press it but when I press something like F6 to adjust the back light, it's not being recognized.

Recently I have re-installed Oovoo and Skype after having my computer reformated. It seems like the volume stopped working around that time. However I'm not sure because a friend did use my computer around that time. Also this never happened before the reformatting with these programs and I've reimaged it once before.

It would be great if I can get a quick fix solution that does NOT involve downloading anything.

Help please? Why have my function key and volume control on my Toshiba Tablet PC?
The software to operate your fn keys may not be running. I would visit the manufacturer of the machine i.e Dell, Gateway, HP ect. Try to download the software from them and re-install it. or you can try this, click Start%26gt;Run, type msconfig and then at the top, click on the start up tab. Make note of what is checked and what is not. If they are all checked, close down the window.. all processes are running. If some of them are checked and some are not. Check ALL of the boxes and restart your computer then try your fn keys. If they work, great. If not, then take out only the checkboxes you ticked prior to restarting the computer and you'll be back where you were. Why have my function key and volume control on my Toshiba Tablet PC?
Good luck with finding away without downloading some thing.

Try uninstalling Oovoo and Skype to see if that fixes the problem. If that doesn't work

My suggestion is to update your sound card drivers, audio drivers, keyboard drivers, or just in general update all of your drivers, or maybe even your bios.
