The remote works fine, all DVR functions 100%, when the plasma is OFF. Please help, this issue defeats the purpose of having a dual tuner DVR. I'm afraid if I call Dish, they will say call Philips and vice versa.Dish DVR 522 remote 2 will not function when my plasma tv is on. Controls the non plasma tv, but not DVR!!?
I assume you press ';sat'; first before you want to control the DVR? (or do you forget you are in ';TV'; mode?)
Does it work if you get closer to the DVR? If yes, then looks like your TV interfers with the IR. Maybe you can move the DVR to a bit further away.Dish DVR 522 remote 2 will not function when my plasma tv is on. Controls the non plasma tv, but not DVR!!?
Plasma TV'S emit a fair amount of IR radiation that interferes with the IR signals from your remote control.
It sounds like your dvr is either located too close to your TV or its' IR pickup sensor may be receiving too much interference from the TV either directly or indirectly by reflections of the IR(light signals) from a nearby mirror, wall, cabinet doors etc..
While someone is repeatedly sending remote commands to your DVR,use a newspaper (at least 3 pages in thickness) and place it first in line between the TV and the DVR.
If the remote still does not function, leave that newspaper in place(tape it ) and use a second piece of newspaper to block reflections that may be coming from nearby objects that have straight areas such as walls and doors. Keeping in mind that IR signals are invisible to us, they are light signals nevertheless and behave the same way.
Use your imagination and I'm sure you'll resolve your problem.

first of all your tv 2 is not infered ir it is uhf that is how it gos through the walls. it could be that your not in sat mode , if you have another dual tunner reciver it could be that both tv2 uhf remots are on the same frquencey,I would check the remote antena on the back of the 522 reciver make sure its not damaged. other wise call dish they will help or send a tech out. I am a dish network tech. 3 1/12 years and it sounds like something very simple. but dont be afraide to have a tech come out if need be.
